Custom Applications
DoIT staff can develop many different kinds of Web-based applications.
Examples include:
- Web forms
The Web can streamline both data collection from your customers
and the delivery of that information to you. Using a Web form,
the submitter can get immediate feedback based on the data entered
and the data collected can be automatically and immediately processed
by a computer application, and updates to the form are immediate
and universal.
- Web search tools
Often a set of documents can be best accessed by allowing the
reader to search the contents for a particular word or phrase.
Customized searching provides a search tool tailored to the content
and organization in your documents.
- Web access to collections of images and related text
Image collections can be made accessible to large groups of people
by digitizing and cataloging the collection and publishing it
electronically. The web, with its integration of image and text,
is the perfect publishing tool. Applications of this type use
the text in the catalog to provide search and browse access to
the images in the collection.
- Web interface to existing data resources
People have been collecting information in electronic databases
for years. A custom application can reformat the information and
create a web presentation. Publishing the information on the web
makes it immediately available to large numbers of people regardless
of what type of system they use.
