The UW Student Job Center lists
part-time, limited term employment (LTE) and summer job openings located
at UW-Madison and off-campus in the private and public sectors. Both job
seekers and employers need to be able to post resumes and position
descriptions, respectively. The process of connecting job seekers
with employers is potentially labor intensive and slow. To reduce the
administrative burden, employers and students would have to enter and
manage their own information while the web application would handle the
workflow. And, the workflow would have to function smoothly, providing
students and employers lots of feedback through email
notifications. The new site ( http://substitute.doit.wisc.edu/jobcenter)
would be a database-driven web portal. Students would use "My Profile"
and "My Jobs" to manage their job search. Employers would enter jobs
in predefined categories which could easily be displayed by job seekers.
The site would also provide other useful information (events, special
help for international students, links, bus lines and maps) for job
seekers. For more information, call Tech Consulting at 265-SHOW(7469) or send
email.
