Case Study: UW Diversity Site

Client

Plan 2008 seeks to continue progress on increasing diversity at UW-Madison. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA) needed a focal point for the many campus efforts related to diversity and a web site would be a prefect vehicle.

Challenge

The site would have to have the ability to add information dynamically, such as contacts and resources on campus. It would have to have links to student organization links and resources off campus. A moderated forum would be needed to encourage community formation on campus. There would have to be flexibility to assign others for moderating various forums. Special Events would need custom forms that could be developed on-the-fly by staff based on needs of the events. Flexible forms would also bee needed to evaluate the events afterwards.

Solution

The new site ( http://diversity.wisc.edu/ ) would have repository (resource, contacts, videos), forum (middle screen on the left), event management (bottom screen on the left). The site can also be easily expanded. The link repository allows staff to make their own pages in an html editor and use the link repository to manage their web pages.
