Linux 2: Installation

Linux 2 will teach you how to install and use Linux on your own computer. Since Linux is free to use and modify, anyone can download an installation CD for the Linux distribution of his or her choice. This class will walk you through Linux installation in a lab, so you can practice without worrying about making the changes to your own computer.

Topics include

  • Partition and Format Hard Drive
  • Install Base OS (Ubuntu)
  • Configure System
  • Add Packages to Base OS:
    • Graphical User Interface (GNOME)
    • Sudo, Firefox, Office, Multimedia
  • Firewalls

This class has the following prerequisites: Linux 1 Recommended.

Note: If you feel you have adequate experience without taking the prerequisite STS classes, you can still register, but please review the material before attending the class.
