Program Information

Student Technical Training (STT) develops students to have the technical and customer service skills to support information technology within UW-Madison campus departments, after an initial, intensive one week Web Design or two-week Core IT training. Students trained on the Core IT curriculum and Web Design curriculum of STT have the technical knowledge that makes them desirable recruits for all campus IT and web departments. Additionally, these student IT recruits will receive on-going, job-specific training while working for their new employers. The Professional Technical Education (PTE) department will develop, coordinate, and deliver the curriculum training and the on-going, job-specific training of these student IT recruits. Although STT students are responsible for locating IT support positions on the UW Madison campus, DoIT's HR department helps to facilitate their search for on campus employment.

Custom Courses

An effort is made to deliver these courses at a low cost, but most require some financial cooperation on the part of the department requesting the training.
