Great Training Creating Great Student Workers

Student Technical Training specializes in training students for campus IT support work within the unique environment of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. STT takes students from every discpline within the university, and equips them with the skills that they need to acquire and excel in campus IT positions.

STT helps connect to potential employers with students though the resources of this site. If you are a campus employer you may want to spend a moment browsing the database of STT graduates. Also employers are able to submit job postings to this site as well.

The training that STT provides comes in several flavors.

Core I

A two week program that familiarizes students with hardware, troubleshooting, operating systems, and networking. Customer service is at the center of every disussion.

Core II

A one week follow-up to Core I that builds on students' networking knowledge. Students are given training in configuring network operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X), and network security.

Web Design I

In seven days students gain HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop skills. A strong emphasis is placed on designing and maintaining accessible and usable websites.

Web Design II

Web I graduates are able to take their web skills to the next level by learning to build dynamic web sites. PHP and MySQL make up the bulk of the instruction in this class. Attention is also given to ASP.

Custom Courses

STT also provides courses tailored to campus employers' needs. Programs in the past included video, animation, audio, graphics, layout, and troubleshooting..

Program Application

Students and employers should look for announcements throughout the year for application information and deadlines.
