Disposal of Faulty/Deactivated Equipment:
State owned equipment – SWAP (Surplus with a Purpose) has delegated authority to dispose of surplus State property.
AT&T Mobility provided equipment - This equipment, including the AC wall charger, should be returned to the vendor upon deactivation or replacement. Optional accessories purchased by the State for these phones should not be returned to the vendor.
US Cellular provided equipment – Return to vendor for their disposal. If a UW department feels it can make use of this equipment (including accessories), they may keep it.
Verizon Wireless provided equipment – Do not return to vendor. SWAP (Surplus with a Purpose) has delegated authority to dispose of surplus State property.
Removal of Personal Information Prior to Disposal:
It is the responsibility of the UW department to remove personal information (contact/address books, call logs, messages, etc) prior to disposing of State owned, AT&T Mobility or Verizon wireless devices.
US Cellular removes personal information from returned vendor-provided wireless devices; however, departments are strongly encouraged to remove personal information from high profile staff before returning such equipment.
