Activate your My UW-Madison NetID
Your first step is to activate your NetID from any computer with Internet access and a Web browser. Go to my.wisc.edu and look for the "Activate your NetID" link, click it and follow the online instructions. You will need your UW-Madison student ID number to complete this process. Before you leave the Summary page, record your NetID and email address as they appear under the heading "Copy and memorize the following." Do not record your password on any sheet with your NetID, and do not share your NetID and password with anyone.
Shortly after you activate, you will receive an email that contains your account information from the Summary page, including your three Account Recovery questions. If you forget your password, you will use your responses to these questions along with your student ID number to reset your password at https://www.mynetid.wisc.edu/password-reset/.
Memorize your NetID and password. You will be using them throughout your academic pursuits at UW-Madison. They are required to access your My UW-Madison account, as well as to enroll in classes. You can view your My UW-Madison site and check your email by entering your new NetID and password at my.wisc.edu.
