Our Services
DoIT has the infrastructure, bandwidth and expertise to create a high quality
streaming media experience for your project and its viewers. Our ability to
do live streaming events is unparalleled. And whether you need a real time stream,
or simply want content available on demand for later viewing, we can make it
happen.
- Technical expertise. We offer extensive design and technical consultation
with experienced professionals.
- Flexibility. We can stream a variety of media formats, for any type
of event, from virtually anywhere on campus.
- Knowledge of pedagogical principles. We know how to integrate content
in way that enhances learning.
- System redundancies. Because of our back-up systems, you don’t
have to worry that a stream will fail at a critical moment.
- Content hosting. We host your media and currently support three formats
for viewing content: Windows Media, QuickTime and Flash.
- Production services. These include encoding and converting
audio and video assets.
- Training. We can do it for you or work with you using the New Media
Centers so that you can do it yourself.
Showcase Examples
Whether you are releasing research findings, presenting classroom material or
sponsoring a conference, your potential audience is much broader than you could
possibly reach through traditional means alone. Visit our Streaming
Showcase to see examples of how we’ve helped other campus groups expand
their audience.
Pricing
All customers will receive one hour of consulting services at no charge. We
can work with you to develop an approach to fit your budget. Basic hosting services
are free for those using streaming content for instructional purposes in a timetable
course. All other users will be charged a nominal hosting fee of $50 per month
($600 annually) for a basic account that offers:
- An initial allocation of 2GB of server space. Additional space is available
for a fee.
- Access to servers for hosting your account.
- Usage reports to track how your material is being accessed.
- Technical support through the Help Desk knowledge base and personal assistance.
Getting Started
To get started, we recommend you take the online Understanding
Streaming Media Tutorial on our sister site, Streaming@UW. Once you have
familiarized yourself with the basics, you can contact our consultants in one
of two ways: simply email us with some preliminary
information or questions. Or, if you don’t need a consultation and already
know what you need, just complete and submit the Account Request Form.
