The planning team for the new UW System network is preparing to light the 100Gbps path between Madison and Milwaukee this Friday, July 11, with UW-Madison cutting over July 13. The change will occur during the standard early morning outage window. The campus should not notice the change. Other campuses will be switched to the new network according to this schedule.
As of today, $4.2 of the total $7.2M approved budget has been spent. The team anticipates another $350,000 of expenditures within the next 30 days. After completing the timetable for the cutovers, deployments and installations, the project is on schedule with this timeline.
The status report is from the New UW System Network implementation team. DoIT and the UW-Madison are working on behalf of UW System to design, purchase, build and manage the network. This and other reports are found on the network site: https://www.doit.wisc.edu/newnetwork.
