Question: Im having trouble with my computer, and I dont know where to turn. Can you help me?
Tuesday, September 18, 2007
Answer: The DoIT Help Desk is an excellent resource for providing answers and assistance with computer problems. Help Desk staff support a wide variety of services, such as WiscMail, WiscCal, and NetID issues for users of Windows and Macintosh computers. That includes a check-in service for operating system reinstallation and virus removal by the Advanced Desktop Support team (ADS). Repair and Desktop Support (RaDS), another team associated with the Help Desk, does hardware repair for both in- and out-of-warranty Dell and Apple computers (a service fee may apply). For details on support provided by the Help Desk, ADS, and RaDS, please contact them directly.
Contact the Help Desk by phone, email or in person:
- By phone, call 264-HELP (4357). This number is in service from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., seven days a week, and is closed only on select University holidays.
- For support by email within 24 hours, send a message to help@doit.wisc.edu. When emailing this address, try to send your inquiry from a UW email account.
- Stop by the Help Desk at 1210 W. Dayton in the east wing of the Computer Sciences building, adjacent to the Tech Store. Hours for walk-in service are 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
No matter how you contact them, the knowledgeable and trained staff at the Help Desk will be happy to assist you.
