The latest version of WiscCal’s ShareURL will be released August 14 to campus, providing you with more options to share your calendar. Since 2007, ShareURL has allowed you to generate a unique link, allowing those who use a diverse set of clients to accurately view your agenda and day events. This new release expands the technology, allowing you to create a “Public ShareURL,” a link that includes your email address. Other feature improvements include a more intuitive interface, easier to create URLs, and filter options to customize the data others can view.
Public ShareURLs bridge the gap between those who use differing mail/calendar systems. Because it’s not as easy to view someone else’s schedule in the new WiscCal, Public ShareURLs allow customers or developers to leverage this “guessable” URL when scheduling meetings. The formula is simple:
- https://calendar.wisc.edu/share/u/abadger@department.wisc.edu
These easy-to-generate links now require only one click. You have the option to share just the times when you are Free or Busy, all of your calendar data or a filtered set, such as Public-only events or events that include a specific word in the title, location or event details. Please note your ShareURL provides a read-only link to your calendar data.

This new version also includes a simple interface that helps you build the ShareURL parameters you need.

If you have ANY sensitive data (e.g., personal, financial, medical information, or data set to a sensitive access level), then you should not use this feature. Consider using a traditional ShareURL instead, which is a random string of characters associated with your account.
