Content and Features
The My UW-Madison portal provides campus users a single, unified point of access (via NetID and password) to data from a complex array of campus sources. Every individual has a custom portal view that is based upon his or her relationship to the University. The views include:
Examples of these role-specific portlets for students, instructors and advisors can be viewed by clicking on the View My UW Demo button on the login page.
The portal is organized into several tabs, and under each are numerous modules of information (e.g., links, applications, data) related to the tab subject. Depending on the user’s relationship to the University, the tab names and modules may differ.
- Home (e.g., WiscMail, WiscCal, My WebSpace, Campus Events)
- Academics (e.g., Student Center, Course Resources, Library Services, List of Advisees)
- Finances (e.g., Financial Services and Resources, Tuition Accounts, Scholarships)
- Services (e.g., DoIT Help Desk, Purchasing Resources, Lost and Found)
- Work Record (e.g., Earning Statements, Contact Information, Annual Tax Statements)
- My Page (allows users to put all their favorite modules on a single page)
The content and layout of the modules can be easily customized to the user’s personal preference.
