Safeguard your digital ID

How a digital ID works In a time of Internet fraud and spoofing, how can you be confident in the source of email and sensitive documents? Check for a digital ID.

Like a passport, a digital ID is an official way to validate to others on the Internet that you are who you say you are. A digital ID can keep snoopers from reading things in transit. It also protects your computer in case it is stolen.

The UW-Madison has licensed software to do this that is easy-to-install and use. It enables you to verify that the email and documents you send and receive are from the real authors—with these digital signatures no one can use another’s account.

Best of all, first year use of the software is FREE!*

Details on how to get it are at: http://www.doit.wisc.edu/middleware/pki/setup.asp

* Second year licensing costs may be partially subsidized by the campus.
