Kim Milford

Kim Milford is the Information Security Manager for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is responsible for overseeing information security responsibilities, including policy development, security awareness, authorization services, and incident response. She and her colleague, Jeffrey Savoy, assisted in the design and implementation of BadgIRT, the University of Wisconsin Madison Incident Response Team. Kim was also instrumental in piloting the use of PKI technology for the Division of Information Technology. Prior to joining UW-Madison in 1998, Kim was the Information Security Officer for Helene Curtis, a subsidiary of Unilever, where she established and maintained information security policies. Kim has a B.S. in Accounting from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri and a JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.

Jeffrey Savoy

Jeffrey Savoy is the information security officer for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His background is in incident response and over the last five years he has investigated a wide variety of incidents at the University and has assisted the University police, Madison police, FBI and US Customs in investigations. Savoy worked with his colleague Kim Milford in assisting with the design and implementation of the incident response team for the University, BadgIRT. Savoy also assists with proactive security measures used campus wide and designed and programmed the incident response tracking software used by BadgIRT. Savoy has recently given presentations at the 27th Annual Computer Security Conference and Exhibition as well as the Computer Crime Investigators Conference. Savoy graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in engineering mechanics.

William R. Wilson (Bill)

William Wilson is a member of the technical staff in the Networked Systems Survivability Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The CERT® Coordination Center is also a part of this program. As the team leader of the Survivable Network Management Team, Wilson is responsible for managing and participating in the development of methods and techniques that assist organizations in the identification, analysis, mitigation, and management of information security risks. Before joining the SEI, Wilson served as the technical director of the National Security Agency's Software Engineering Center. During his more than twelve years at the NSA, Wilson held positions in software development and acquisition, systems engineering, and technical project management. Wilson has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree in computer systems management from the University of Maryland.

Peter Cassat

Peter Cassat is a Member of Dow, Lohnes & Albertson's Media and Information Technologies practice group and specializes in computer and information technology and intellectual property matters. He has worked extensively in negotiating agreements relating to the licensing of technology and content for distribution both through online ventures and through traditional print and broadcast media. Mr. Cassat has represented technology companies in negotiations relating to Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) and digital audio distribution standards. He has also represented cable networks and other television clients in connection with their affiliation and program license agreements. Mr. Cassat is experienced in representing magazine clients and other publishers in negotiations with their printers and other vendors. He advises clients with respect to advertising and marketing issues, including issues related to database marketing, telemarketing, and commercial e-mail, as well as promotional contests and sweepstakes. Before joining DL&A in 1997, Mr. Cassat was Associate General Counsel at U.S. News & World Report. He was an associate in Arnold & Porter's Washington office from 1989 to 1994.

Niels Provos

Niels Provos is an experimental computer scientist conducting research in steganography and in computer and network security. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan, a member of the Honeynet project and an active contributor to open source projects.

Barbara Chung, Sr. Technology Specialist, Microsoft Corporation

Barbara is a security specialist with Microsoft's National Technology Team. She has been with Microsoft for more than five years, working with a large and diverse group of organizations, including the world's largest financial services companies, government, education, and retail customers to assist them in the design and implement secure network architectures. Barbara holds the MCSE-Security certification, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Dave Schroeder

Dave Schroeder is a senior systems engineer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is responsible for managing and supporting Apple systems and software. He has 12 years of Mac administration experience in academic and research settings, and is actively involved in Apple's software development, evaluation, and testing programs. Schroeder is a technical member of the Apple University Executive Forum (UEF), and was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2001. He came to the University of Wisconsin in 1995 after studying electrical engineering at University of Michigan.

Matt Mueller

Matt Mueller is the Workstation Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been doing computer support for the past 5 years on PCs, UNIXs and most recently Macintosh computers. His interests include computer and network security and is a current volunteer for the security group on campus, BadgIRT. Matt holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Rick Konopacki

Rick Konopacki is the Sr IPC in the Dept of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics at UW-Madison, Manager of the Medical School Network Group, and HIPAA Security Coordinator for the Medical School.

Suzanne Ronde, HIPAA Consultant for HIPAA Professional Services, a division of AE Business Solutions

With over 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry, and 3 years of experience regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), in positions ranging from IS Project Specialist, HIPAA Compliance Manager to HIPAA Consultant, Ms. Ronde has had experience in a wide range of projects including general assessments, conducting seminars and training sessions, Gap Analyses (ANSI 4010 Professional and Institutional Claims, Claims Payment Advice and Privacy) and implementation. Suzanne has worked on HIPAA Projects for organizations such as Cobalt Corporation, Aurora Health Care and Waukesha County to name a few. Suzanne has also volunteered her expertise and leadership skills to the HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin (HIPAA COW), where she is the Co-chair of the EDI Task Force, Co-chair of the EDI Administration Workgroup, Co-chair of the Privacy Policies and Procedures Workgroup and member of the Security Administration Workgroup. Suzanne has also been a presenter on HIPAA for organizations such as HIPAA COW, the Wisconsin Medical Creditorâ¬"s Association (WMCA) and Jabas. Throughout her career, Suzanne has demonstrated a wide array of HIPAA knowledge/experience and the ability to learn/adapt to client's needs quickly as well as effectively communicate with team members, customers and management.

Joseph Brown, Chief Information Officer

Joe Brown has been with the University of Wisconsin-Stout for 33 years. He has been involved in the application of high technology since the later 1970's and has also taught in the technology field. He is active with the National Association of College and University Telecom Administrators and with the University of Wisconsin Council of Chief Information Officers. Mr. Brown is serving his seventh year as UW-Stout's Chief Information Officer. He earned a bachelor's degree and has more recently completed coursework for a masters degree in Telecommunications.

Douglas Wahl, Director of Telecommunications and Networking

Doug Wahl has been with the University of Wisconsin-Stout for 14 years. He has taught in the technology field and for the Technical College system. He has a bachelors degree in Applied Math and is due to graduate with a Masters degree in Telecommunications in August. He is active with the National Association of College and University Telecom Administrators.
