WiscList Notification Messages

The following messages are sent to list and site administrators during different phases of the list deletion schedule.

Initial Contact - List is Expired

From: WiscList Administration <help@doit.wisc.edu>
Subject: WiscList <listname> to be scheduled for deletion

The WiscList <listname> has been inactive for a period of 13 months or greater. An inactive list is defined as any list that has not received at least one legitimate message in a 13 month period. We believe <listname> to be unused and will begin the process to delete the list.

On <listname> will be disabled, but will still be accessible via the WiscList administration utility. If you would like to retain full access to and function of <listname> simply post a message to the list prior to <insert date of disable>. After the list has been disabled you must contact wisclist@doit.wisc.edu to halt the formal list deletion scheduled for <insert list delete date>.

Second Contact - List is Disabled

Subject: WiscList <listname> has been disabled and scheduled for deletion

The WiscList <listname> has been disabled and scheduled for deletion on . To halt the deletion of <listname> you must contact wisclist@doit.wisc.edu PRIOR TO <insert delete date> . Beyond this date all list information including delivery data, membership, and archives will be removed and will not be recoverable.

List Reactivation Message

Subject: WiscList <listname> has been removed from the deletion schedule

The WiscList <listname> has been removed from the deletion schedule. Removal has occurred because a legitimate message has been posted to the list or due to manual intervention by the WiscList Service Administrators. Please note, however, <listname> will not be exempt from future deletion scheduling if a 13 month period of inactivity is again detected.
