Lists

List Security

Currently three types of lists are available for Classlists:

  • Unmoderated Discussion Lists - default for all lists
    Only members may post and receive list messages. Posts are not screened before they are sent to the list. This type of list avoids the interruption of discussions due to moderating.  These type of lists will never be delivered to junk folders.
     
  • Announcement Lists
    A one way communication typically used to distribute information about a service, an event, a newsletter or other noteworthy information. Only the individuals you grant privileges to can send e-mail to the list, regular members will be rejected.  These type of lists will never be delivered to junk folders.
     
  • Feedback / Open Discussion Lists
    Allows anybody to post to the mailing list, even non-members. Only members of the list will see the posts, providing a quick and easy way to send feedback to a group of people. These type lists have the potential to be spammed and be considered spam so they may end up in the person's junk folder.

Steps to update the security of your classlist:

  1. First click on term (Spring, Fall)
  2. If your lists are enabled, Click "Continue"
  3. Select a list
  4. Click on "Advanced Options"
  5. Click on "Change Security"
  6. Click on type of list security and then
  7. Click on "Submit Security Change"
  8. Update message will display at bottom of screen
  9. If you wish to modify other classlists, click on "Return to Advanced Options".
  10. To logout of the application you must close all your browser windows.
