List Security

Only one type of list is available for AdvisorLists:

  • Announcement Lists
    A one way communication typically used to distribute information about a service, an event, a newsletter or other noteworthy information. Only the individuals you grant privileges to can send e-mail to the list, regular members will be rejected.  This type of list will never be delivered to junk folders.
     

You have the ability to grant others the privilege to be able to send emails to your advisorlists. To do this, you must add them as a guest to the lists. They will then have the ability to send emails to your lists, but not to administer your lists.

If you also want an individual to have access to the AdvisorList Utility as a delegated administrator and be able to create lists, view list members etc., you will need to contact the AdvirsorList Administrator (advisorlist@doit.wisc.edu)

Steps to grant privilege to another individual to send email to your AdvisorList:

  1. Enter NetID and password
  2. If your lists are enabled, Click "Managed Enabled Lists"
  3. Select a list
  4. Click on "Add Guest Members"
  5. Add guest member name and email address (allowed to add 5 guests at one time)
  6. Click on whether you want the guest to be able to send to the list or just receive emails, then click "Add"
  7. If you wish to modify other advisorlists, click on "Back to Edit Lists".
  8. To logout of the application you must close all your browser windows.
