DATA VIEW NAME CDR_STUDENT_COURSES_STOUT
OVERVIEW

This table shows University of Wisconsin-Stout courses with students enrolled associated with the official Central Data Request (CDR) reporting date. The file contains all courses for students who are enrolled in 102, 104, remedial, exchange program, CAPP, and study abroad courses. "Official" count students, students reported by UW System and included in Stout and System official data are obtained in the following manner:

--Join CDR_STUDENT_COURSES_STOUT and CDR_STUDENT_STOUT Tables by Person ID and Term
--limit TERM by contains to term of interest (2000FA)
--limit COURSE by > = greater or equal to 100 (excludes remedial courses)
--limit SECTION by not contains section numbers 600 thru 899. These are Continuing Education sections; CE sections also have letters attached to the section number. You can highlight the block of them by holding down the shift key and moving the arrow keys.
--limit STUDY_ABROAD_EXCHANGE to equal to I and N

LOAD FREQUENCY The data is loaded at official reporting dates. Fall and Spring CDR data are submitted approximately the 6th week of the semester. Post-term CDR data files are submitted approximately 3 months after the end of the semester. Winter Term CDR files are submitted by approximately the 3rd week in January, with Post-term submission in March. Summer CDR files are submitted the first week in September, with Post-term available the second week of October. Post-term status (Y,N) is a variable on CDR_STUDENT_STOUT. Some variables such as degree-earned are only filled when the Post-term status is marked Y.

Field Formats describe the field type and length.
  CHAR2( N) or CHAR (N) - Alphanumeric field. (N) is the length of the field. Field contains letters and/or numbers. Example: CHAR (5) could contain ‘ABC12’ or ‘12345’ or ‘ABCDEF’ (N) is the length of the field. Field contains letters and/or numbers.
  NUM (N) - Numeric field. (N) is the length of the field. Field contains only numbers. Numbers with decimal points are represented as NUM (X.Y) X = total number of digits Y = the number of decimals after the decimal Examples: NUM (6,2) could contain 2500.12 NUM (6) could contain 000005 or 550000
  DATE (XXXX) - Date field. (XXXX) is the format of the field. Date can be in various formats and date functions available based on your query tool can be used against the field. Examples: DATE (YYMMDD); DATE (YYDDD); DATE (DD-MM-YY)

Semester or term of interest; formatted with 4 digit year and suffix of FA, SU, SP, or WIN denoting term.
Examples are 2000FA, 2000SP, 2000SU, 2000WIN..

CHAR 4

A 4-digit code based upon the HEGIS taxonomy of instructional programs in higher education designating the primary disciplinary area in which the course is being offered within a department.

2310- COURSE NUMBER

The campus number used to identify a specific course within a campus department's offerings..

2330- SECTION NUMBER

CHAR 5

A five character unique identification for each section taught within each course. This identification must appear in the campus timetable file. A section is defined as a group of students meeting at the same time and in the same place for the same typeof instruction with the same faculty. Sections may not be artificially derived to serve other functions (i.e., number of credits registered for, student level, etc.), except for certain independent-study and field experience sections for which the section number is used to identify the instructor or "dummy" sections which are used when the actual section numbers are not available. If the Curricular Area and Course Number are submitted with dummy codes, the section number must be submitted as a dummy section (XXX). Sections described must actually exist and meet separately from other sections of the same course..
