Joint Techs Workshop

ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs Workshop
The UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is responsible for the management, operation, and support of the campus network and coordinates the design, long-range planning, and procurement of a broad range of network services.
UW-Madison Network Highlights
- The fully redundant Ethernet network backbone spans three supernodes, 14 nodes and approximately 180 radial buildings. Communication speeds are 10 Gbps between supernodes and a minimum of 1 Gbps between nodes, radials and telecommunication rooms.
- Nearly ubiquitous Wireless coverage across campus provides laptop users with fast and convenient access to the Web.
- UW-Madison engineers have assembled WiscWaves, a 250-mile, fiber-optic, dense wave division-multiplexing network linking Madison (and soon Milwaukee) to Chicago, where education and research networks converge.
- Through DATN, we offer Digital Video Streaming of local TV stations, instructional and specialty content from various campus entities, and satellite programming.
- Through our role in WiscNet, we help to provide Internet access, Web content filtering, virtual Web site hosting, email, and technical support for colleges, universities, and schools State-Wide.
- Network Performance Statistics can be viewed in graph form on our NetStats page. The DoIT homepage averages 68,000 hits/requests per month.
- Unique collection of tools like AANTS to aide those in charge of Network Management.
- Rely on departmental staff for operational support through Campus Collaboration while DoIT remains the central authority.
