It’s that time of year when we see many new faces at UW-Madison. New students and their families will spend a few days on campus learning about housing, financial aid, technology, and more. That’s right . . . campus is abuzz with Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) activities.
SOAR is designed to introduce students and parents to the University of Wisconsin community. The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) and other groups will give them a taste of what it means to be a UW student in and out of the classroom, preparing them to be more confident and to have fun as they begin their college experience.
DoIT will provide a number of services to to enrich this campus learning experience.
- Parents and guests will have the opportunity to learn about technology services in a presentation called Technology on Campus.
- DoIT Repair will provide laptops for class registration.
- The DoIT Tech Store will offer academic discounts on laptops, software and a variety of computing accessories.
- Incoming students will receive a 4 GB flash drive, courtesy of DoIT and the Office of Campus Information Security (OCIS), with links to security software and information about campus technology.
