"The students I worked with were outstanding. I had never designed or printed a poster before and they were very helpful and reassuring. I coordinate two graduate programs and will be recommending your center to all of them!" - Mary Possin, Student Services Coordinator, Limnologly & Environmental Chemistry

Printing

The DMC offers large format, photo, color laser, 3D and DVD/CD printing. Call us at (608) 265-4817 to set up an appointment. We can print your poster when you have already created it, or help you design it and walk you through the entire process. Be sure you have your method of payment determined and available when you make your appointment. Appointments should be made few days in advance to secure time with the equipment, but walk-ins are welcome if the printers are not busy.

Payment

The DMC only accepts the following payment methods:

  • Departmental or Personal Credit Card (Visa & MasterCard)
  • DoIT Number (DoIT Numbers replaced requisition numbers)
  • Departmental (red) or Personal (white) Library Debit Cards
    • Note: Due to fees associated with the Library Debit Card system, the DMC will not take Debit Cards after June 30, 2008

Personal purchases are charged WI sales tax. If making a departmental purchase with ProCard or Library Debit card, please bring your UDDS number. It is required to waive WI sales tax. When paying via DoIT number please make sure the number is ACTIVE prior to your appointment. Our staff can check this for you when you call to make your appointment. Your name must show as someone who is authorized to charge to the DoIT number. Please plan accordingly to ensure there is enough time for the DoIT number to become active. Check with your departmental staff to find out if you are on the authorized list.

You will be asked to sign a copy of the receipt for our records and you'll get a receipt to take back for your department's or your own records. We will not release your products to you until full payment is made.

Large Format/Poster Printing

Epson Large Format Printer 10000

Our Canon iPF8000 can be used to print posters for conference presentations, create signage for departmental facilities, or for presentation in classes. We support files created in Adobe Illustrator, inDesign or Photoshop. We will try to print your MS PowerPoint poster, but do not guarantee perfect posters from this format due to a number of issues. Please read more about making high resolution poster prints and our suggestions on our poster printing page prior to making your appointment or stopping in.

Paper Size: 44" or 36" satin/glossy photo paper rolls
Cost: $5 per square foot. (ex. printing on a 44" roll to 52" length = 13 square feet = $65)

Most posters take less than 30 minutes to print, and dry almost instantly. We do, however, schedule a poster printing session for 1 hour for any unexpected file preparation or last-minute fixes. Clients must be present during the printing session and pay prior to release.

Save your poster to a CD, zip disk, USB drive, or on the campus network and bring your work to the DMC. Be sure to bring your own poster tube because we do not sell them!
