UW-Madison Doodle

We all spend too much time arranging and re-arranging meetings and conference calls. Use of WiscCal or another calendaring system in a department works well--until you need to include someone outside the department. DoIT just licensed Doodle to address this campus need. Doodle is a tool to assist with coordinating meeting times or events by creating polls. It does not replace our scheduling application called WiscCal. The UW Madison-branded version of Doodle offers encryption and is free from online ads.

Doodle enables anyone with web access to enter preferred meeting times, locations and other optional information. The organizer can limit dates and times for a staff meeting by creating simple polls (e.g., Which agenda items do you prefer?), and see which ones work for the group. Doodle fills the gap between different calendaring systems. Simply create an account, establish a "poll," and invite participants to cast their votes.

Other highlights include:

  • Doodle is available to all faculty, staff and students with an @wisc.edu email address. Please note, you must use an @wisc.edu email address to create a poll. WiscMail Plus addresses are not included.
  • You can send invitation e-mails out with your regular e-mail program or directly from Doodle.
  • Import Doodle calendar events into WiscCal, Outlook, Google Calendar, iCal, Notes, etc.
  • Outlook can be synchronized using the Doodle Outlook Plugin. Other calendar users need to create an account and follow the guidelines in the calendar settings.
  • You can access Doodle from your mobile phone.
  • You can use Doodle from Facebook and with iGoogle.
  • If you already have a personal Doodle account, you can access those polls from the UW-Madison Doodle site by clicking "My Doodle."

The DoIT Help Desk does not support UW-Madison Doodle, but supplemental documents have been added to the DoIT Help Desk KnowledgeBase. For more information, visit the UW-Madison Doodle Help page or email Doodle.
