Here are the categories of applications that DoIT has developed or worked with campus departments to acquire and implement. DoIT can help you meet your application needs in these areas:

Business

Financial
Applications that provide accounting and other financial services. Includes general ledger, purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, grant administration. Interfaces to the enterprise systems used by the University. Custom applications for departments, schools, and colleges. Also Accounting, PeopleSoft SFS

Materials management
Applications used to manage the acquisition, inventory, and possible sales of supplies, products, assets, and other tangible things.

Service management
Applications used to manage the provision of services, including projects and work orders. Includes possible billing for services.

Business process
Applications to track and count activities, monitor status, and depict historical trends.

E-commerce
Applications to present online catalogs, provide web forms for ordering or registering, and accept secured credit card payments.

Room assignment & events
Applications to manage rooms, reservations, or rentals. Applications to identify events, especially those requiring rooms in university buildings.

Facilities applications
Applications for planning facilities, monitoring construction, tracking maintenance and operations.

Employment

Budget
Applications used to plan, control, and report financial activities, from a work group to the UW System Redbook. Emphasis on salary budgeting, and transferring budgets to financial and payroll systems.

Human resources
Applications for personnel recruitment, appointments, and employer-required information. Applications for paying employees and providing benefits through payroll deductions. Extracts of appointment, payment, and deduction information.

Personnel lists & labels
Based on your selection criteria, receive lists or labels of employee names and addresses.

Research

Research study
Applications to support the collection of data for research studies or special programs. Data may be collected during observation or transcribed from forms completed by researchers or subjects.

Survey & Polling
Applications to collect and analyze responses to surveys and polls. Also: Election, Voting

Institutional Research
Use university employment, financial, and student information to produce higher education statistics.

Directory

Directory
Applications to identify individuals and organizations and publish directories, including the online phone book. Applications to identify individuals as UW students or employees. Applications to permit use of or access to facilities based on the individual’s relationship with the University.

Photo ID card
Identification and authentication of University faculty, staff, students, retirees, and visitors using a mag stripe card.

Smart card
Identification of smart card holders.

Information

Library
Applications to support the administration of libraries, including the catalog for the library’s collections, patron information, and book checkout functions.

Information retrieval
Applications to retrieve items from text or image catalogs, through indexes and search routines.

Instructional resources
Applications to support course materials, reference works, instructional modules and other learning objects.

Student

ISIS
Customized applications for administrative and academic offices using ISIS, including class rosters, special reports, data extracts. Also: PeopleSoft Student Administration

Student lists & labels
Based on your selection criteria, receive lists or labels of student names and addresses.

Student services
Applications to help administer admission, registration, advising, transcripts, grade reporting, and other related services. Includes Admission Form submission, EASI for student access to their information, and DARS for academic advising.

Student financial
Applications to manage student fees, financial aid, and student loans.

Student housing
Applications to administer single-student housing, family student housing, short courses, and special academic programs.

Curricular
