University of Wisconsin-Madison Web Accessibility 101 - Policy, Standards, and Design Techniques

Contact Information and Page Dates

University of Wisconsin-Madison Policy Point #3

Point #3 of the UW policy presents only one requirement:

  • all web sites must present contact information to communicate questions or concerns

Contact Information

This requirement makes it possible for users of a web site to get in touch with the department owning a web page. Providing this contact information makes it easy for users to communicate issues such as:

  • suggestions
  • corrections/additions to facts on the page
  • issues of accessibility
  • other feedback

Email is the preferred method by which to provide this feedback mechanism, however, a phone number will suffice as well.

Placement of Contact Information

The most common location for placing contact information is near the bottom of a page. There are several ways to meet this requirement. A web page may list the contact information directly on the page or provide a link to an accessibility page that contains the contact information, plus other information related to accessibility. An example of this link is located at the bottom of DoIT's Digital Publishing and Printing Services group.
