Accessibility
The University has adopted an Accessibility policy that endorses compliance with the Federal Rehabilitation Act, Section 508. Designing under the Accessibility Standards enables as many people as possible to be able to access your site.
The Web Accessibility team is committed to helping you make your web site accessible. Whether you are a web master, an instructor with a course on the Web, or a department administrator; we can help. Here is a collection of tools and resources to aide you in your task. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Alice Anderson, Coordinator, Technology Accessibility Program.
How to get started?
- Note who to contact on your site for help with accessibility.
- Complete DoIT's Online Web Accessibility course
- Turn off images in your browser. (Are there alt tags for every image that make sense?)
- Run the web page evaluation tool, WAVE 4.0. WAVE default Preference is Section 508 only. You can change preferences to reflect your needs. Fix the easy stuff first.
