JOB DUTIES: This position is responsible for providing to the campus complex, expert, guidance and consultation in new/advanced internet technologies (including electronic mail, calendaring, web services, and portal systems). This position specifically provides technical leadership and works as a senior technical leader in the area the WiscMail System in supporting the WiscMail server environment.

The focus for this position will be on configuration, support, and administration of infrastructure to insure the optimal configuration and use of resources. This position is responsible for testing new releases, troubleshooting problems, and support.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Messaging software (or equivalent system); web application server technologies including Java servlets/JSP and associated application server environments (i.e. Apache, TomCat and Sun Glassfish); network topologies and protocols including Local Area Networks (LANS), Wide Area Networks (WANS), DNS, and Layer 4 switching networks; programming languages such a C, C++, Java, Javasript, Perl, Visual Basic or similar. Technical knowledge of diverse computer platforms, operating systems, and media applications and web development experience including dynamic HTML, use of web forms, CGI scripting, remote database access, full text index searching; Project management techniques; information technology planning processes. programming principles, techniques, and at least one programming language; Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, and Unix operating systems; effective high level troubleshooting techniques and methods for computer applications running in standalone and networked environments; application software installation, monitoring, and maintenance procedures for Unix and Microsoft LANs, stand alone PCs, and Macintosh computers and networks; oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
