The Office of Campus Information Security (OCIS) is teaming up with DoIT Professional Technical Education (PTE) to sponsor a UW-Madison Security Training Series for campus IT professionals.

Firewall Service Administration Online
This class will help prepare you for the ongoing process of managing a UW-Madison firewall context. Participants will have to configure their own lab firewall and verify success.

Give Your Computer a Security Health Checkup
Bring your computer to this hands-on workshop where workshop leaders will help you determine if your computer is adequately protected from common security threats and check your configurations to ensure that essential security settings are enabled.

Security 101: Information Security Basics for IT Staff
This three-hour course introduces fundamental practices and policies for the management of sensitive data on the UW campuses, including a discussion of good (and bad) data management techniques, how to locate sensitive data within a network, and what steps to take if sensitive data has been accessed by unauthorized personnel.

Security 201: Windows Security Fundamentals for IT Staff
This course will cover the basics of securing Windows systems, including general system security, account security, hardening, logging and documentation. Students will receive personalized instruction, with a step-by-step walkthrough of security configuration policies based upon well-defined scope and security principles.
